As a part of its Soft Loans Project ” (benevolent loans) BLF which is funded by Viva Palestina Malaysia and Malaysian  Globe Peace association  aims at empowering the Palestinian women, Rowad Association for Community Development distributed checks for the breadwinner women. The distribution took place at the distribution celebration in Rowad’s main office – Gaza city. This event was attended by Mr. Rabah Bukheit, the chairperson of Rowad, Mr. Raed As-Saati the treasurer, Mr. Hani Abu Thuraya, the representative of Viva Palestina Malaysia and Mr. Mohammed Abu Sido , the director of Rowad.

In the distribution ceremony, 7 women received the checks of Al Qard Al Hassan Fund” (benevolent loans) BLF, 1500 USD for each. This comes after a series of procedures which are: checking the conformity of the projects to the association’s announced criteria, then interviewing the owner of the project, and after that visiting the project in order to evaluate its validity and feasibility

For his part, Mr. Bukheit confirmed that this project matches with the association’s policy which aims at enforcing the community development in the Palestinian society and empowering the widows and women breadwinners via supporting them and providing them a source of income that could help them in overcoming the obstacles of life especially in light of the harsh economic condition that Gaza Strip suffers now a days and after the last aggression on Gaza

Mr. Bukheit illustrated the importance of such projects as they provide job opportunities for the breadwinner women who have not any other source of income and this would help in eliminating poverty. He said that the project aims at funding new projects and expanding the ongoing ones by providing them with the basic needs which would help in a way or another in increasing the income of the poor families and alleviating their suffering

The proposed projects include grocery, sewing, photocopying and poultry, rabbits and goats

It is worth mentioning this is the first of checks distributed on the owners of small enterprises. There are going to be other for new projects in the coming weeks.
