Rowad Association for Community Development (RACD) and Jabalia Youth Development Centre (JYDC ) implemented a marathon entitles “ Rowad Marathon” yesterday, where  seventy  athletes participated in. The event was attended by the head of the board of RACD Mr. Mohammed Bukheit, Ahmad Muheisin the secretary assistant of the ministry of youth and sport, secretary assistant of the minister of transportation Mr. Yasser Al Shanti, Mr. Majed Al Zibda member of the board of RACD and Mohammed Abu Sido the executive management of RACD.

This marathon is organized in solidarity with the Palestinian detainees who lie inside the Israeli prisons. The marathon staring point was Al Amn Al Am cross roads “General Security Cross road” towards the Arc med hotel, Marine, Attwam and finally returning to the starting point.

Mr. Bukheit inaugurated the event by delivering a speech where he stated that the Palestinian detainees issue has to present in all of our activities. He added that the association is keen on implementing activities in solidarity with the Palestinian cause in general and the issue of the Palestinian detainees in particular due to its importance and the policy of the association. The former also described this initiative as a part of the development youth project implemented and sponsored by RACD.

For his art, Mr. Muheisen praised the association for its outstanding performance and implementing such event and activities that support the Palestinian Cause. He added that this event proves that RACD is not only interested in the field of relief, but it also stands with its people in supporting their political issues. Also, he said that ministry of youth and sport is going to provide an ongoing and strong support for such solidarity events.

The results of the marathon were as follows:

The first is Belal Abu Saman, the second is Baha Al Farra and the third was Mahmoud Al Louh. At the end of the event, the winners were honored with medals and in-kind prizes.

It is worth mentioning that RACD has implemented many series in solidarity with the Palestinian detainees, the last of which was hosting an ex-detainee.
