Last Thursday, Rowad Association for Community Development has implemented a voluntary campaign for cleaning Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza City in the Divisions of (Chest- Tumors and ) where the association’s staff and voluntary youth participated together under the motto of “ Altogether we build and keep our country” .

Mr. Mohammed Abu Sido, the director of the association, stated that this campaign arises from the association’s participation in solving the problems of the society and developing it as well. This initiative aims at cleaning Al Shifa Hospital and it is going to be followed by other social initiatives in order to serve, improve and develop the society. Additionally, it aims at f the patients supporting and alleviating the suffering as a result of the hospital cleaners’ strike for being unpaid.

Abu Sido pointed out that the association follows the prophetic tradition of prophet Mohammed: “Believers in their affection, mercy and pettiness are like the body. Once an organ falls sick, all the other organs are affected and have insomnia and fever”. And he said that cleaners’ crisis have to be solved as soon as possible in order to resume doing their work in the best way.

Mr. Mohammed Rabah, the chairman of the association, called the minister of health in the government to hold his responsibilities towards the hospitals of Gaza Strip which suffer from great loss in the medical equipment and medicines, and the case of Gazan patients.

Also, Mr. Bukheit calls all bodies, local and international associations and human rights associations to a quick intervention in order to alleviate more deterioration as a result of the cleaners’ strike. And he calls all the Palestinian people to unite in order to serve the Palestinian people the best specially under this suffocating siege.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza warned of the collapse of the health system in the Gaza Strip in light of the cleaning companies’ crises which reached to dead end, which lead to the accumulation of dirt and grime in the various sections in Gaza hospitals.

It is worth mentioning that the cleaning companies have stopped performing their duties after prior  warnings , and  they implemented many strikes to protest against unsaying the salaries of their cleaners for seven months i.e. 700 NIS for each cleaner.
